We are extremely excited to have been selected to design and build this mountain style home on Cedarville Reservoir in northern Allen County. The spectacular views offered on this homesite are rarely found locally and it demands that a new home built there should take every possible advantage of those beautiful vistas. The owners requested Lynn’s assistance in designing a home that would do just that.
An existing home will be demolished to make way for this exquisitely designed and well appointed new single family residence. When complete this two-story home will be comprised of 3,300 square feet of living space over a finished daylight basement. The three bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths will be accompanied by two offices and a sun room. An oversized attached two car garage will provide additional storage to that provided by an exsisting outbuilding.
The open linear design of the great room, dining room and kitchen will be bookended with a natural stone fireplace and range hood surround. While technically not a timber frame structure, exposed Douglas-Fir trusses will be used in the great room as well as cedar trusses on the exterior porches which will certainly give the home that vibe.
The home will be heated and cooled by a combination of a closed-loop geothermal system that was installed in the existing home a short time ago, and gas furnace for the basement. This setup will allow for four individual zones to provide superior comfort for the owners. There are two direct-vented gas fireplaces planned to provide additional options for heating the home as well as providing ambiance on those cold winter nights.
The exterior of the home will feature Hardie fiber-cement siding with Boral TruExteriors trim for a durable natural finish complimented with natural stone accents on every side. A large covered porch capped with a cedar shiplap ceiling will be a prime spot to watch the sun set over the pretty reservoir.
