Project Description

The owner of this beautiful piece of property located in Noble County approached Lynn about designing and building a barndominium on the site. Among the requests was plenty of storage for gardening equipment and other implements needed to tend to the homesite. Being quite skilled at working on various projects, a workshop was another area quite high on the wish list. Of course, living area was another need to be addressed in the design.

The result, is a conventionally framed building on a concrete slab with a basement under the living area. There are 3,931 sq. ft. of storage, workshop and garage. The 1,896 sq. ft. of living area consists of two bedrooms and 3 baths. One of the full baths is conveniently located directly off of the workshop and can be accessed from the home as well.

The residence section of the building is conditioned with LP gas forced air and conventional air conditioning. A separate HVAC system was installed in the workshop as well. The storage, workshop and garage is minimally finished and will be further developed as the owner sees fit.

The exterior of the home is clad with foam backed vinyl vertical board and batten siding and 30-year asphalt shingles are installed on the roof. The home has a very large wrap-around covered porch overlooking a beautiful pond. The exterior posts and columns are clad with a material consisting of polyash which is, in our opinion, the best possible product for exterior trim. The polyash is finished with a very special technique to give the trim a realistic wood look without the high maintenance associated with natural wood products.  All the exterior walls of the home and workshop will be 6″ and insulated with urethane foam and fiberglass batting which, along with the insulated siding and house wrap, will make this building very inexpensive to heat and cool.
