Project Description

The Clear Lake area has been a summer home for the owners of this property for years. While the home served its purpose well enough, it was determined that a new home would better fit the plans as a permanent residence. So the best course of action, it was determined, was to demolish the current home to make room for a new year round residence.

As is the case around the many lakes where we build, there were several factors that needed to be addressed while designing a home to fit on the property. The owners made it clear to Lynn that their wish was to preserve as many as possible of the large hardwood trees that beautify this homesite. The Town ordinances pertaining to setbacks and lot coverage added to the challenge of incorporating all of the functionality the owners were hoping for. Budgetary concerns were, as is normally the case, very important and something we are very conscious of in the planning process.

The result of this planning is, when completed, a 2,969 sq. ft., 4 bedroom, two and one-half bath home on a crawl space. There will also be a large bunk room that will be available for a variety of purposes and a floored attic will be accessible from that room for additional storage. A unique feature in this home will be a very large craft room with space for weaving looms and other craft necessities.

The home will be heated by a high efficient two-stage gas furnace and 16 seer air conditioning will allow for low cost cooling as well. The two floors of the home will be zoned to allow for independent control of the heating and cooling. The hot water will be endlessly provided by a natural gas tankless water heater which has become a ubiquitous feature in our new homes.

As is the case in the vast majority of our homes, the cabinetry will be custom designed and built specifically for this home by our Amish cabinet maker. The flooring will be entirely luxury vinyl plank with the exception of carpeting in the secondary bedrooms. The exterior of the home will feature low maintenance vinyl siding and manufactured stone.
