Lake Homes

Governmental ordinances and codes can vary greatly from one lake to the next. Our years of lake home building have made us very aware that complying with these ordinances greatly influences what size and shape of structure can be placed on a particular building site. We offer our knowledge of these factors to assist in the design and placement of your vacation home.
The geographical processes that have occurred, which have allowed these beautiful lakes to form, may create sub-surface conditions that make it challenging to place a foundation. We know what indications to look for and how to proceed when those conditions are found to be present.
When you select us to build your vacation home you can expect to receive the same quality of workmanship and materials that we use on homes we build in more conventional urban and suburban residential settings.

New Vacation Home on Irish Lake

This home was our third new construction project on the Barbee Lake chain in Kosciusko County. The craftsman style home offers 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in it's 1,964 square feet of living space. There is an unattached two-car garage situated on this lakeside home site. As is the case with many shoreline properties, the soil conditions were such that pilings were required be driven as support for the foundation. Truss rafters were used to accommodate the wide open floor plan which incorporates the great room, kitchen and nook, all in one large area. A corner gas, direct-vent fireplace is visible from anywhere in this large room. A huge island in the kitchen allows plenty of space for guests in what is a common gathering spot for parties in most homes. With vinyl lap and shingle siding, as well as manufactured stone, this cottage is practically maintenance free, which demands less time for work and more time for playing on the lake. A large [...]

Expansion & Remodeling Project on Clear Lake

This expansion and remodeling project was recently completed on beautiful Clear Lake. Being a registered architect, the owner designed the home to be expanded with a new great room, rec. room, 3-seasons porch and lake toy storage. A new enlarged custom kitchen as well as new and expanded wood exterior decks were also part of the project. The existing roof was replaced and the home now is protected with new vinyl shake siding complimented with natural thin-veneer stone.   A new wood-burning fireplace in the great room and one in the new 3-seasons porch were added as well. The home's main entry is relocated to a new covered porch on the street side and a new unattached two-car garage has been constructed on the property as well. With the extensive landscaping, this transformation has been nothing short of spectacular. We continue to receive many compliments on this refreshed and expanded home.

South Shore Vacation Home on Clear Lake

Centered on the south shore of beautiful Clear Lake, this elevated home site provides a spectacular vista of the lake to the north. As is typical of many lake-side building sites, this sloping lot presented unique design challenges and opportunities for the landscaping, hardscaping and home layout. Lynn worked closely with the owners to design a home that not only meets their requirements but complies with the strict ordinances of the Town of Clear Lake as well. This two-story home consists of 3,100 sq. ft. of living area above grade and is built on an unfinished walk-out basement and attached one-car garage. Like so many vacation homes there is an abundance of sleeping areas (5 bedrooms) and 4 1/2 baths. The master suite is located on the main floor and accompanied by the laundry room, mud room and a large area on the lake side consisting of the great room, dining room and [...]

Cape Cod Style Home on Big Long Lake

With instructions from the owners to preserve the abundant natural beauty of the property and to provide maximum area for outdoor living in the design, Lynn was turned loose to design what we feel will be among one of the most gorgeous lake homes in northern Indiana. With private decks for the three bedrooms on the 2nd floor and the wrap-around veranda on the main floor, there is certainly  no shortage of exterior space to enjoy the jewel that is Big Long Lake. An over sized see-thru fireplace divides the multi-sided sun room from the great room and views of the lake are in abundance from these areas as well as most rooms in the home. A full "lake bath" and the super-sized laundry room are smartly located just a step inside the lake-side door. The large bonus room over the garage provides space that is available to use in any number [...]
