Lake Homes

Lake homes are generally a great investment and if you are willing to rent the home, the quality of that investment is enhanced. Designed by Mike Christoffersen, of Ft. Wayne , consideration in the layout of this home was given to not only make it a great vacation home for the owner's use but to make it attractive for multi-family rental as well. This was accomplished with bathrooms conveniently accessed from each bedroom as well as separate areas for entertainment. The homes interior was designed by the owner, with the assistance of Sharon Mullett of Accent Designs. Some of the unique features in this home were the use of art glass in place of balusters on the interior stairway balustrade and unique aluminum balustrade for the exterior deck railing. Fiber-cement board and batten siding and vinyl shakes were used on the exterior surfaces.

Len Mysliwiec from Lifespace Architects designed this lake home on Clear Lake to fit the relatively narrow lot like a glove. Sharon Mullett from Accent Design and the owner collaborated on the interior design of the home. If you are fortunate enough to be invited into this lovely home, you'll be amazed at how spacious and comfortable it feels and how it belies the fact that it is situated on a rather narrow lot.

Situated on the northern tip of Snow Lake, the best views of the lake were to the south of this property. Lynn designed this home with that in mind and was able to maximize the views from the great room, dining area, master bedroom, screened porch and deck.

Like many lake home building sites, this lot presented some challenges, not the least was dealing with the severe slope from the street down towards the lake. Accomodating this slope was accomplished by building the basement with 12' high ceilings. Efficient using the space under the deck for a screened porch was acheived with impearmeable aluminum decking above. Among the many features in this fabulous cottage were the tin ceiling and wall-sized tropical mural in the wet bar located on the lower level. This mural was painted by Auburn artist Pat Delagrange. Using many great ideas offered by the owner, this home was designed by Lynn specifically for this site.

The owners of this 100 year old cottage requested that architect Jim Kratzat design the addition of a new three-seasons porch, new bath room and expansion of the existing dining room. They wished to update the interior and the exterior but only to the point that the original cottage “feel” was maintained. Working as a team, the architect, the decorator Melisa Flickinger, the owner and our company accomplished the owner’s objectives for this project.
