This new home has been uniquely designed by Lynn to meet the very specific wishes and needs of this family. The home is situated on 4 1/2 rolling acres in northern Kosciusko County. With 2,068 sq. ft. of living area on the main level and 352 sq. ft. of finished area in the full daylight basement, the home offers three bedrooms and three full baths. One of the bedrooms offers flexibility by doubling as an office. In addition to the main stairway located off of the foyer, there is another stairway from the oversized 3-car garage directly into the basement. This provides wonderful access to the mechanical and storage areas of the basement without having to access those through the home. After dreaming of replacing the tired old cottage on this family property on Lake James, the owners have decided that the time has now come to move forward. The goals for the project are to provide more sleeping and bathing capacity as well as being able to enjoy the benefits of new amenities currently available in new homes. The original concept for the home was created by local architect Phillip Breckler. With some subsequent adjustments by Lynn to meet some additional wishes by the owners as well as lot considerations, the result will be a beautiful 4,532 sq. ft. two and one-half story lake home. Having completed a partial renovation of this cottage on beautiful Clear Lake several years ago, the owners contacted us about partnering with them again on a more extensive remodel and expansion.  Because of significant nostalgia for the cottage, a total demolition and rebuild was discarded as an option. Lynn was then tasked with coming up with a design that achieved the goals of the owners, yet stuck to a very strict budget. The result is a vacation home that provides 5 bedrooms, which is one more than the cottage originally contained. There also is an additional bath that now makes a total of four. The existing kitchen was disassembled and relocated into the expanded area with a new very large island added that is the center of the combined kitchen, dining and great room area. This new home recently completed in New Haven is for a 2nd generation member of a family we've partnered with in quite a number of projects in the past. This reminds us of how fortunate we've been to have served this area for 40 years and the opportunity to build for first and second generations. This home provides 1,845 square feet of living area on the main floor as well as a bonus room over the 3 car garage. The three bedrooms are served by two full baths. A large great room is open to the kitchen and dining area. A separate laundry room is conveniently located just off the garage. The home is conditioned with a high efficiency gas furnace and high seer air conditioner. The characteristics of this homesite on beautiful Syracuse Lake, presented not only design challenges but made it extremely difficult to construct the home. With very narrow access at the road, the lot widens as it approaches the lake and provides a very generous lake yard. Being mindful of the minimum side yard, lake and street setback requirements Lynn designed a home that fully meets the needs and wishes of the owners. The home boasts 2,675 sq. ft. of living area above grade and 1,105 sq. ft. of living area on the walk-out basement. Of the five bedrooms, two qualify as owner suites. There is a large office above the two-car garage and a large recreation area in the basement as well as an open kitchen and great room on the main level.
