Lake Homes

Needing a space for guests, the owners of this property were interested in using an existing unattached garage as the core of which a guest house could be built around. While preserving the function of the unattached garage, Lynn designed the three bedroom guest house to seamlessly attach to it. To meet lake ordinances, the guest home was attached to the main cottage with a covered exterior walkway. Although this addition was stick built, the extensive use of ship-lap wall coverings and beam work successfully achieved the owners wish that the interior match the feel of the timber framed main cottage.

A touch of the Old South is the feeling one gets while spending time on the expansive lake side porch of this home designed by Len Mysliwiec. An outdoor fireplace offers the opportunity to use the porch on cool summer evenings or autumn days. The functional cupola is another nod to southern living with its remote controlled windows that offer natural cooling on those low humidity days. The home's layout is open but not to the point where privacy cannot be found for guests and the owners alike.

T. K. Ladd, a Ft. Wayne architect, designed this single story cottage with walk-out basement. The home makes efficient use of the building site by providing deck area over the recreation room in  the basement. The large covered porch on the street side of the home offers an exterior area to relax on rainy days. The great room has exposed structural elements that create additional interest in the volume ceiling.

San Diego architect, Tom Bolovan, designed this Arts and Crafts style home located on the "Gold Coast" at Clear Lake. The interior design was done by the owner and there was extensive use of reclaimed heart pine for the flooring and interior stairway balustrade. Natural field stone was used for much of the exterior veneer as well as on the many retaining walls and columns. In addition to the large exterior decks, there is a concrete patio that was built over a lake-toy storage area conveniently located in the lake yard.

An old cottage was demolished to make room for this beautiful lake home but care was taken to preserve an existing boat house and wood stairway to the lake.  Lynn designed this home, using a floor plan from a previously built cottage and a photo of an exterior the owner provided, as a basis for this unique design. The exterior deck was constructed to protect the space below, so it could be used for outdoor living on rainy days. Provisions were made to allow for installation of roll up screens, which will offer the option of turning the space into a screened in area when desired. Year 'round living was the long range plan for the owner's of this lake home on Big Long Lake.
